Festive for the 4th
Today, I’m sharing three of our favorite things that we love to talk about on The Daily Croissant. Here’s a fun little post of friendship, fashion, and of course, food! I couldn’t wait to share these photos and in honor of the 4th of July I felt it festively appropriate to spread the red, white and blue love with you!
An American on the Upper West Side
On one of our recent photo shoots, Mario and I decided to explore the Upper West Side of Manhattan. And by explore, I mean hit up some of my favorite places and take pictures for the blog!
When I had a craving for oysters, I knew I had to bring him to The Mermaid Inn! I’ve been talking to Mario about their happy hour for over a year and it was time I show him what all the hype is about.
This place is always packed, but if not for their great happy hour menu, I probably would not come here. From 5- 7 p.m every day the oysters are $1 and there’s a great selection of seafood tapas, such as fried oysters, fish tacos and fried clam sliders all for under $5 each. The happy hour menu is served at the bar as well as the tables.
When we walked in for a table around 6 p.m. we were told there was a 45 minute wait, so off we went to explore some great back drops for photos. By the time we made a loop around the neighborhood, our table would be ready and oysters would be ours!
Red, White and Blue
When I found this skirt I was so excited to wear it! I’ve always loved the pleated skirt look, but never found the perfect one until I strolled into good ol’ Uniqlo. My eye caught the navy and I knew it was the one!
I could dress this up with these great red mules from Vince Camuto or pair it with a white tee and sneakers for a chill weekend look. I love how the red accessories elevate this look. A good red lipstick is so hard to find. Mine is flame red from Face Stockholm. I went for some french flair with the red scarf around my neck.
This striped tee I’m wearing is an oldie but goodie from Ann Taylor. The bag is one I bought at Charles and Keith on a trip I took to Thailand a fews years ago. I love how the gold detailing on this bag makes it so chic.
Proud to be a New Yorker
What says 4th of July more than New York City? The Statue of Liberty, The Macy’s fireworks show and The South Street Seaport all epitomize American culture and I couldn’t think of a better place to spend the 4th of July!
This weekend I had a little staycation. I explored some of the beauty that is New York when everyone else leaves! You get to appreciate the city for what it’s worth without the crowds and craziness. My boyfriend and I hit up lots of great restaurants, shops and other touristy things we don’t ever take advantage of. We curated our own sangria crawl downtown and took his niece to the Central Park Zoo (first time for me too!)
I’ll be taking the Long Island Railroad out to Long Beach to celebrate a friend’s birthday on the beach today and attending another party in Brooklyn on the 4th.
We wish you a very happy and healthy 4th of July. Be safe, eat well, and dress your best!
