A New York Weekend
We are well into the dog days of summer! I still have a month before I go back to work and I want to enjoy what is left of summer to the fullest! I’ll be traveling for the latter half of August so I have to take advantage of what’s going on in my city before I leave!
A typical summer Saturday for me has been teaching a morning yoga class and then heading over to the Bronxville Farmers Market for some yummy treats. I love getting a cold brew and strolling around the market to figure out what I’m going to make for dinner (or not!) They have about 20 participating vendors and I’m always finding something new there.
Last week I got a massive and delicious coconut/chocolate chip vegan muffin from Nutmeg, a local eatery/bakery that I really enjoy. Their chocolate chip cookies are great too and everyone raves about their pies. I also discovered a strawberry mint gazpacho from Spoon Me Soups. It’s a refreshing summer lunch or good for mixing into smoothies. Bien Cuit is there with more baked goods, like their delectable apple cardamom danish. Try the bomb risotto balls from diRiso (these sell out quickly so try to get them while they last!). You’ll also find many local farmers and cheesemakers. Check out a list of participating vendors here.
The market is open every Saturday from 8:30- 1:00 until November 18.
The World is your Oyster
I’m excited for Sunday because I’ve been looking forward to the FAD market beach edition at Coney Island. I’ve never been to Coney Island and I’m psyched to finally check it out. The FAD market is fantastic. I discovered it during my day in Cobble Hill and wanted to spend more time there. They have lots of unique designers and products like anatoli.co who makes beautiful Turkish towels, kaftans, and robes. They also have some opportunities for you to make your own arts and crafts as well. The market is located at the Coney Art Walls which should be a great place to take pictures too!
Parisian for a Day
Getting dressed up and going to see Paris Can Wait at the Paris Theatre in NYC is another activity on my list for the weekend. I’m thinking a nice French dinner and movie after. The Paris Theatre is located right next door to the Plaza Hotel so maybe I can even sneak in an eclair from Francois Payard at The Todd English Food Hall!
What are you guys doing this weekend? I hope you enjoy what’s left of summer. Don’t worry; It’s not over. There are still plenty of beach days left. Stay present and appreciate each day! Leave a comment below letting us know what you’re doing this weekend and any other summer activities you recommend!
